Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
‘One’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions’, said
Jesus. What have you found by experience to be more important in life
than possessions? What brought this home to you?
‘Be on your guard against all kinds of greed’. Perhaps you have seen
how greed can lead to trouble in public life, in family life, and in the
personal life of individuals. What has helped you to guard against
greed? What benefits have you experienced when you were less greedy?
The message of the parable could be summed up in saying ‘If you want
to give God a laugh, tell him your plans’. Life takes many twists and
turns we do not anticipate. When have you found that you had to change
your plans because of unexpected circumstances? What has helped you to
be flexible and resourceful at such times?
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
‘A Better Vision: Understanding, Living and Sharing the Catholic
Vision for Human Sexuality’ is a new book written by Fr Chris Hayden. In
this week’s interview, Fr Chris out-lines the context and content of
this timely publication. We have the third and final article that
reflects on family love as a pathway to holiness followed by a homily
for the Eighteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time. The newsletter insert is a
reflection on greed which Jesus warns us about in this Sunday’s Gospel.
David Quinn explores how the pre-amble to our Constitution is foundation
of God being the ultimate source of law. Finally, reflections for the
feast of St John Vianney and the feast of the Transfiguration on the 4th
and 6th of August respectively. Check out these and other resources
available at www.thehookoffaith.com
