There will be no Vigil Mass on Bank Holiday Monday 31st October. Mass for Feast of All Saints will be on Tuesday 1st November at 10:30am

November Pious List

During the month of November we remember and pray at all Masses for those who have died and are listed on our November (Pious) Lists of the Dead. Pious Lists will be placed by the Altar at all Masses in remembrance of our faithfully departed.

In remembrance Envelope and Pious lists are available in your weekly envelope box.

Names of those who died in our Parish over the last year will be placed on the Tree of Remembrance.

Cards will be left if you wish to remember someone you loved on the Tree of Remembrance.

FEAST OF ALL SAINTS

Tuesday 1st November is Feast of All Saints Mass will be at 7:00 pm Monday night and 11:00am Tuesday morning.

Wednesday 2nd November is Feast of all Souls.

BUNCLODY Pastoral Council

A Pastoral Council Meeting will take place on Wednesday 2nd November at 8:15pm in the Pastoral Centre. We hope all can attend.

NOLAN’S FORGE BUNCLODY

A day of culture will be held at Nolan’s Forge Foundry Lane, Bunclody on Monday 31st of October at 2pm. There will be live demonstrations of blacksmith/farrier work including shoeing and forging. Attractions on the day will include hand sheep shearing, displays of local crafts/artwork, display of vintage tools/equipment, music by local traditional artist. All are welcome to attend the event which is funded and supported by Wexford County Council in partnership with Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gealtacht, Sport and Media as part of the ‘decade of Centenaries 2022 programme.

Church Choir

Holy Trinity Church Choir has returned to singing at masses and other church services. Rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening at 7:30pm in the church of The Most Holy Trinity. MCN have updated us that recordings on the live stream can now only be stored on MCN website for a maximum of 1 week and will be removed after that, this is due to GDPR regulations. However the Parish Office will have a downloaded copy of each recording which can be transferred onto your USB if you would like a copy.

Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

This free course will run for 5 weeks in the Bunclody Men’s Shed. Starting on Friday 23rd September from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Mary's Meals

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK 

Zacchaeus showed himself open to the call of Jesus, to the surprise of his contemporaries who thought there was no good in tax collectors. Some-times the people who give us lessons in goodness may be people we previously disregarded. Recall when this happened for you.

It was the eagerness of Zacchaeus to see what kind of a man Jesus was, that opened him up to conversion. When you consider moments of change in your life what were the interests or de-sires that prepared you for change?

The decision of Jesus to eat in the house of Zacchaeus broke the social norms of his day and scandalized those who saw him. When have you found table fellowship a useful way of breaking down artificial boundaries between people? When has a kind word had this effect?

Zacchaeus had become rich off the backs of the people, and they thoroughly disliked him. Yet he was the one singled out by Jesus and he responded to Jesus’ call. Perhaps you have also seen people who hurt you and caused you pain change their ways. How have you reacted to such a change? What has helped you to see the grace of God at work, and give thanks?

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

This week’s interview is with Mary Ellen Hawkey who is a member of Wexford parish and a member of the parish ‘Care for the Earth’ group. She talks about ‘Laudato Si’ and the work of the group. It has been 10 years since the tragic death of Savita Halappanavar. Her anniversary is being marked by a push for even more liberal abortion laws in Ireland. But was the 8th Amendment responsible for her death? An article investigates. We have the homily for the 31st Sunday of Ordinary Time based on the Gospel story of Zacchaeus and the usual newsletter insert. We have a feature for the feast of All Saints and All Souls and the Pope’s intention for the month of November.
