Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
‘HOPE IN NEW BEGINNINGS’ is the first Pastoral Letter by Bishop Ger
and is published this week. He also offers us the homily for this Fourth
Sunday of Ordinary Time where the crowds’ opinion of Jesus changes
rap-idly from acceptance to hostility. We have the usual newsletter
insert and an article on St Brigid whose feast falls on Tuesday 1st
February. We feature the recent launch of the ‘Credible Catholic’
programme aimed to help adults grow in their faith. Our video this week
is an interview with the character who plays Jesus in the drama series
‘CHOSEN’. Finally, we reflect how science is revealing more evidence of
all creation being marked by God’s creative love. Check out these and
other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
The People of Nazareth could not accept that this local boy had
something to teach them. Fixed ideas about people can at times block us
from hearing what is being said. What a difference when we drop our
prejudices! Perhaps you have experienced hearing an important truth when
you focused on what was being said. Rather than on the person saying it?
The anger of the people arose when Jesus confronted them with God’s
inclusive ways. For them, God was ‘their God’ and God’s blessings were
for them.. Jesus re-minded them that this is not God’s way. When have
you been challenged to think in new ways and not be excluding some
people from your thoughts or concerns? Was there good news for you in
the challenge?
Jesus continued his work despite the opposition. Have there been
times when de-spite opposition you have been able to ‘walk through the
people’ and ‘continue on your way’? Have you seen this courage in
others?
