Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

The Ascension of Jesus w as an important growth point for the disciples. Jesus would be with them in a different way from now on. Painful through it was, it was necessary for them to let go of his physical presence and adjust to the new reality. Perhaps you have known similar transition points in your own life.

Jesus invited the disciples to be witnesses to the good news they had learned. They way we live, speak and relate to others speaks of what we have learned about life. We all are witnesses. How have you been a witness to the goodness of life. In particular Jesus invited them to be witnesses to the good news of forgiveness. Recall people who have been witnesses to you of forgiveness and reconciliation. What effect did they have on your life? Have you been able to be a witness to the good news of forgiveness in your life?

Stay in the city until … Jesus instructs the apostles to wait patiently for the moment of grace. What been your experience of waiting for a moment of grace? What are the moments of grace that you particularly recall (a friendship, a new opportunity, birth of a baby, etc)?

The Feast of the Lord’s Ascension is also ‘World Communications Day’. We have Pope Francis’ message where he talks about the importance of listening with the ears of the heart. We have a homily for this Sunday and the usual newsletter insert. In these weeks when a Catholic ethos in schools and hospitals is being attacked as something harmful and dangerous, we explore precisely what is a ‘Catholic ethos’. We celebrate the fourth anniversary of the Hook of Faith and conclude the Novena of Prayer for Life. Finally, in our video this week, Bishop Robert Barron reflects on how Christ wants to come into our lives in a deeper way. Do we have the courage to let him in? Check out these and other resources available at
