Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

In a relationship, connectedness is important. Relationships cannot be taken for granted and need time and care to be life-giving. What does your experience tell you of this in your relationships
with God
with your friends
with your family
with communities or groups to which you belong?

Just as a vine is pruned in order to be fruitful, so we will be pruned when we accept the give and take of healthy relationships. When have you found that a relationship grew when you were able to consider the needs of the other as well as your own?

In THE JOY OF THE GOSPEL Pope Francis wrote "I invite all Christians, , everywhere, at this very moment to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ." He goes on to suggest that when individuals, or groups, focus on Jesus there is an increase of energy and vitality. Have you seen this happen?

The parable also reminds us that we ware not the source of our own life. Is a gift from God, from our parents, and from all who have nourished us. Give thanks for those who have been a source of life for you.

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

The homily for the Fifth Sunday of Easter unpacks one of the most beautiful images Jesus used to teach about our connection with God and the life he shares with us, namely that of the vine and the branches. We have two video interviews – one courtesy of I-Catholic with Cardinal Mario Grech on synodality and the second with Bishop Phonsie Cullinan on vocations. We have articles on Saints Catherine of Siena and Athanasius whose feast days we celebrate this week and an interview with Jordan and Tammy Peterson after her reception in to the Catholic Church at Easter. We feature a ‘State of the Na-tion Podcast’ by the Irish Catholic and another video on climate change. Finally, some of the best films available on YouTube on the lives of the saints. Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
