THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

This Sunday, we welcome Pope Francis to our country. He is with us to celebrate the World Meeting of Families. His main purpose is to bring home to us the massive importance of family life. Family is the cornerstone of society and the quality of society depends intimately on the health of family life. Families and

children go together. Bringing children into the world is a sacred privilege. Birth is only the first step on the road to giving life. It is a long

journey of nourishing and nurturing children. Intimate love and affection gives assurance that life is worthwhile and lays the foundation of a confident assured life ahead. Child experts constantly remind us that the first three years of a child’s life are critical and much depends on the care and attention of loving parents.

However, the family task does not end with childhood. The whole programme of good parenting leads to the point when a young person has achieved the maturity of taking full responsibility of his/her life. In their early years, young people discover the joys of a happy family life, which leads them, in turn, to lay the foundations of a good family life themselves. Family is the place where all family members grow and develop. That is especially true of husbands and wives whose love for each other flourishes as they strive and struggle to give their children a great start in life. As we welcome Pope Francis may the Lord bless all families with genuine Christ-like love and real happiness.

PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

  • The Parish of Bunclody/Kilmyshall shall be a community:
  • Of renewed faith and commitment to Christ expressed in prayer and genuine Eucharistic worship where all participate fully.
  • With deep respect for and interest in each and every person.
  • Flourishing in love, care, support, co-operation, education and communication, building to the unity of the Body of Christ.
  • Reaching out the hand of welcome to all who do not belong to our faith and worshipping community.

Please let your priest know when a family member is in hospital or sick at home
