Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

‘Peace be with you’ was the greeting of Jesus on meeting his frightened apostles. Who has come to you bringing peace at times when you were afraid? To whom have you been able to bring peace?
Thomas, doubting and questioning, is possibly a person with whom we can identify. What positive part have doubting and questioning played in your life? How have such moments helped you to know that your life is worthwhile? How have questions and doubts strengthened your faith?
Note the way that Jesus dealt with Thomas. He did not give out because he doubted. He accepted how he felt and led him along to see the truth of his resurrection. Who has been that kind of teacher for you, gently taking you where you were and leading you to a deeper knowledge of some truth about life? For whom have you been that kind of teacher?
‘Blessed are they who have not seen and yet believed’. That requires great trust. During the recent pandemic there were times when one wondered if we would ever see the end of it.

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

The Church of the future will see frequent moments of prayer in communities other than the celebration of the Eucharist. A video explains how the Liturgy of the Hours is an increasingly popular way of gathering people for the prayer of the Church in a way that sanctifies time. The homily and newsletter insert focus on the theme of Divine Mercy for this Second Sunday of Easter. We have features on Saint Catherine of Siena and Saint Mark and look forward to the canonisation of Blessed Charles de Foucauld on 15th May. Finally, an inspiring take on the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus by Jordan Peterson. Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
