This Sunday we celebrate Mission Sunday. From the very beginning our church has been a missionary church responding to Christ’s call to his apostles to go forth and "make disciples of all nations". That call remains true for the whole church right down to the present day. Our church is on mission in different parts of the world where the good news of salvation has not been preached before. Bishops, priests, religious sisters and lay people are engaged in this work in Africa, the Far East and South America. On this weekend we contribute to this effort by our financial contributions for the Propagation of the Faith for which the missionary church is most grateful.

All of us are sent. All of us are called to be missionary and to bring the good news of Jesus beyond ourselves. In baptism we are anointed with Chrism and given a prophetic role to continue the work of Christ in our own community and among our own people. Parents do it all the time when they introduce their children to an awareness of God and, teach them how to pray and explain in a simple way the essentials of the faith message. All of us are called to be missionaries in our own church and to our own home community. It is important and essential that we face up to that responsibility by our personal involvement in the work of Christ and the mission of the whole church. The more we are an alive and vibrant Christian community the better missionaries we will be to the world of today. As Pope Francis reminds us, "The Church which ‘goes forth’ is a community of missionary disciples who take the first step, who are involved and supportive, who bear fruit and rejoice".

  • The Parish of Bunclody/Kilmyshall shall be a community:
  • Of renewed faith and commitment to Christ expressed in prayer and genuine Eucharistic worship where all participate fully.
  • With deep respect for and interest in each and every person.
  • Flourishing in love, care, support, co-operation, education and communication, building to the unity of the Body of Christ.
  • Reaching out the hand of welcome to all who do not belong to our faith and worshipping community.

Please let your priest know when a family member is in hospital or sick at home
