Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
The feast we have today, and the gospel, give us an opportunity to
reflect on the different ways in which we, and others, exercise
influence and leadership. The authority of Pilate came from position and
power. The authority of Jesus came from his integrity and what he stood
for. Recall leaders you have known whose influence was like that of
Jesus (teachers, community leaders, family members).
The values of the kingdom of God cannot be imposed. It is never a
matter of fighting battles, or forcing others into compliance. Per-haps
through experience you have learned the limitations of the use of force,
as a parent, a teacher, a group leader. What has been the good news, the
learnings for you, in this?
Jesus came to bear witness to the truth and we are all created for a
purpose. Who are today’s witnesses to truth in the world? Who are the
people whose witness to truth has impressed you, either now or in the
past? In what way have you been able to be a witness to truth? What was
it like for you to be such a witness?
John Byrne OSA
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
The annual ‘Week of Witness’ is an initiative of ‘Aid to the Church
in Need’ that highlights the real life experience of thousands of
Christians who suffer persecution for their faith. It takes place this
year from 22nd to 28th November and we mark the occasion with resources
and articles. We have a homily for the Feast of Christ the King where
Pilate raises the ever-relevant question for our time ‘Truth, what is
that?’ We have the usual newsletter insert and an article that looks
back on ‘Science Week’ that took place from 7th to 14th of this month.
We have a video on the theology of the saints and an article on St
Columbus, one of the greatest Irish missionaries abroad whose feast day
falls on 23rd November. Check out these and other resources available at
www.thehookoffaith.com
