Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
The question put to Jesus is one that many still ask: ‘Will many be
saved?’ in his answer Jesus is not concerned about numbers but warns his
listeners about complacency. Just as his listeners could not regard the
mere fact of being Jews as sufficient for salvation, neither can we
regard being Christians as enough. That entitlement will come from our
acceptance of Jesus. For any relationship to be alive - either with God
or with another human person - the real question is ‘Is my heart in this
relationship?’ What does your experience tell you of this?
‘Strive to enter by the narrow door’. Jesus himself is on his journey
to Jerusalem, purposeful and determined. His true followers will also be
purposeful and determined. That is true in any journey, career, or
relationship if there is to be growth or progress. Do you ever find that
you have lost your enthusiasm for life and become a bit bored? What can
you do to recover some of the enthusiasm you once had?
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
On Tuesday this week, the ‘Synthesis of the Consultation in Ireland
for the Diocesan Stage of the Universal Synod 2021-2023’ was published.
We feature the full document together with the statement from the
bishops that invites a prayerful reading of the text by us all. We have
the usual newsletter insert and a homily for the Twenty-First Sunday of
Ordinary Time. We have news of an upcoming seminar on zoom in support of
Catholic parents in their sacred task of being the first teachers of the
children of faith and morals. As patron season is in full swing in our
diocese, Sean Byrne re-flects on the power of remembering. Finally, for
the feast of St Monica we explore how she is an example for all parents
in the art of per-severing prayer. Check out these and other resources
available at www.thehookoffaith.com
