Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

The apostles reported to Jesus all that they had done and taught. Perhaps you have had the experience of being able to check in with somebody and share an experience. What have you learned from such conversations?

Jesus saw that the apostles needed to rest and eat. What has been your experience of finding a restful place after a busy day? What kind of nourishment have you found necessary in order to maintain energy and enthusiasm?

When Jesus saw the crowd, he recognised their need and reached out to them. Who has been a Jesus person for you, someone who recognised your need and reached out to you? For whom have you been a Jesus person in that way?

It sometimes can be difficult to strike a balance between responding to the needs of others and meeting our need for rest and nourishment. What has helped you to keep the balance right?

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

The Vatican recently approved of the canonisation of Blessed Carlo Acutis that is expected to take place during the Jubilee Year of 2025. But just who was Carlo Acutis and why are many drawn to this young man who was only 15 when he died? An article explores these questions. The homily for the Fifteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time connects the changing times in today’s Church and Jesus request that his disciples NOT be burdened by things that leave them unfree to proclaim the Gospel. We have the usual newsletter inserts and the second part of the article on the place of beauty in catechesis. In a recent talk for the Iona Institute, Fr Chris Hayden clearly and pastorally spells out the Church’s teaching on sexuality based on a Scriptural understanding of the human person. We have a video talk on ‘Becoming like Little Child’ and more light and inspiration from Lorcan Brennan.

Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
