Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
As we move closer to Christmas Sun-day’s Gospel gives us further
insight into Mary’s role in the Incarnation, in bringing God’s Son into
our world. In the Annunciation story the Angel Gabriel reminded Mary
that her cousin Elizabeth had herself conceived a son. Mary was moved
with compassion and decided to embark on a three day journey to a little
village not far from Jerusalem where Elizabeth and Zachary lived. Mary
greeted Elizabeth and this led to her marvellous response inspired by
the Holy Spirit. Her insights are remarkable. "Of all women you are the
most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be
honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord." Amazingly she
recognizes that Mary is pregnant and she would be-come the "mother of my
Lord", the mother of one who was God himself. Elizabeth also commends
her for believing that the promise made to her by the Lord would be
fulfilled.
But there is more to this story than meets the eye. The child in
Elizabeth’s womb leapt for joy. There is an account in the book Of
Samuel about David. The Ark of the Covenant was brought to Jerusalem.
David and the whole house of Israel danced before the Ark, we are told
with all their might. David raised a question very like that of
Elizabeth to Mary, "How can the ark of Yahweh (God) come to be with me"?
The ark was taken to the house of a man called Obededom and remained
there for three months. Mary stayed three months with Elizabeth. The
message of the story is that Mary is the new Ark of the Covenant. The
Ark of the Covenant is the place where God dwelt. He now dwells in Mary
as the new Ark of the Covenant. The Litany of Loreto includes Mary as
the Ark of the Covenant. It is good to know that she carries that title
because she is where God dwells for nine months.
