Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

“There is one among you whom you do not know”. We can know about Jesus but do we know him? What helps you to know Jesus in a way that enables you to follow in his footsteps, trusting God as he did, and seeing other people as he did? John the Baptist came to bear witness to Jesus. Who have been the people who have borne witness to you of the good news of the gospel that God loves you – a friend, a parent, a teacher, etc.? To whom have you borne that witness?

John appears in the story as one who had the courage to be himself in the face of loud and aggressive people. He was also a person who knew his own value, did not make exaggerated claims and was content with his mission. Can you recall times when you have been able to be yourself, even in the face of criticism from others?

John was “the voice of one crying out in the wilderness” - announcing confidently to those in the wilderness that they must not despair because God’s grace may come to them at any moment. Have you had the experience of being in the wilderness, feeling lost? From whom did you hear a voice that gave you hope? Have you been able to give hope to other people when they were in the wilderness do these questions have any special relevance to you in the midst of the current situation in our world?

‘Gaudete Sunday’ is the name given to the Third Sunday of Advent. It invites us to receive the real joy that comes from a deep friendship with Christ this Christmas and to welcome him with love. We have a homily, an article and inspiring quotes on the gift of joy that is born of faith. At a time when the birth of a child ought to be at the heart of Christmas, new developments on the status of unborn life in our county and country cannot be ignored or go unnoticed. Word on Fire explores the roots of the movement known as ‘Wokeism’ which is sweeping across the Western world especially at universities where certain truths are tolerated but not others. We have a video which explains Pope Francis new letter ‘Laudate Deum’ and finally, some more light and inspiration from the pen of Lorcan Brennan. Check out these and other resources available at

  • The Parish of Bunclody/Kilmyshall shall be a community:
  • Of renewed faith and commitment to Christ expressed in prayer and genuine Eucharistic worship where all participate fully.
  • With deep respect for and interest in each and every person.
  • Flourishing in love, care, support, co-operation, education and communication, building to the unity of the Body of Christ.
  • Reaching out the hand of welcome to all who do not belong to our faith and worshipping community.
