Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
‘DEVOTION’ is the title of the recently published memoir of former
Tyrone All-Ireland winning coach Micky Harte. In a moving testimony to
the tragic loss of his daughter, Micky speaks of the value and gift of
his Christian faith in coping with her loss and finding meaning. Staying
with the topic of meaning, Bishop Robert Barron explores the question of
‘What makes Life Meaningful?’ The Homily for the Second Sunday of
Ordinary Time is offered by Bishop Ger Nash who reflects on the story of
the Wedding Feast of Cana. We have the usual newsletter insert and look
forward to the Week for Christian Unity which takes place from 18th to
25th January. Finally, Thursday 20th January marks what would have been
the 50th birthday of Servant of God, Fr Ragheed Ganni. Ibar Quirke
reflects on his extraordinary witness and life. Check out these and
other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
The story is a story of abundance, the abundance of the
blessings God gives us. How have you been aware of the abundance of
God’s blessings? Let the memories lead you to prayer of thanks and
praise for the times in your life when that joy and fulfilment have been
very real to you.
The hour of Jesus had not yet come when the glory of God would be
fully revealed, yet even so something of the glory of God was revealed
in the sign that took place. For us also the revelation of the full
glory of God lies in the future, but we do get glimpse's along the way.
Recall some of the signs that have revealed to you something of the
glory of God, e.g.,, nature, art, friendship, etc.
Mary/Jesus. It is interesting to note that despite the apparent
rebuff, Mary is the first person in the narrative to show (at the level
of the action of the story) that the correct response to the presence of
Jesus is to trust him. When have you trusted in the word of Jesus like
that? What relationships do you have that you can trust like that? Do
you re-call times when your trust was rewarded even when you had been
initially disappointed?
