Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
In response to the question of John, Jesus let his actions speak for
him. Some people show by the way they live what it means to be a
follower of Jesus. Who has given you such an example? Perhaps there have
been times when you have done the same for others.
John made a journey of faith from an incomplete knowledge of Jesus to
a deeper understanding of who he was. Recall similar steps in your
journey of faith. Faith is not primarily about answering abstract
theological questions but about living the gospel. What in your life has
helped you to get that sense of perspective? John marked the end of an
era, Jesus the beginning of a new one. In our lives how do we honour the
past and yet be free to move on into the future?
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
Former professional footballer and Irish international Keith Fahy
shares his story of how he came to faith and how the joy of knowing
God’s love replaced the happiness he sought in substance abuse. On this
‘Gaudete Sunday’ an article explores the distinction between our search
for happiness and where true joy can be found. We have a homily for the
Third Sunday of Advent and a quote from St John of the Cross for the
newsletter insert. We feature an article on ‘Diversity and Synodality’
by Sean O’ Leary and Pope Francis’ intention for December in which he
encourages volunteer organizations, and that those who work in them may
work as "artisans of mercy." Check out these and other resources
availa-ble at www.thehookoffaith.com
