THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

This coming week we embark on our fourth week of Lent. During Lent, we are asked to devote ourselves to seeking the Lord in prayer and to sacrifice self-control through fasting or "giving up" something. We are encouraged to make going to confession a significant part of our spiritual lives during Lent.

Action and behaviour are very important to Jesus. Yet he often focused on what resided in the human heart. We are all familiar with the emotion of anger. All kinds of things can make us angry, which can result in a negative impact on how we speak to, and behave towards others. Anger is an emotion worth attending to because it can lead to us becoming distant from others.

Let this Lent be a time for you to bring about reconciliation with yourself, others and God.

Megan O’Neill (Pope JP II Awards Participant)
