Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
We are approaching the most important week in the Church’s year. It
is Holy Week when the focus of our attention is the death and
Resurrection of Jesus. On Palm Sunday there is a celebration of triumph
as Jesus enters Jerusalem encouraged by an enthusiastic crowd. But, in
the course of the week, provoked by the leaders of the Jewish people,
the Sanhedrin, the scribes and Pharisees the crowd turn against Jesus.
We learn how Jesus came to be condemned to death and suffered the
horrible execution of crucifixion. As he died he entrusted himself to
his Father. "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." But his death
was also on our behalf. It was the expression of his supreme love for
all of us.
On Holy Thursday, we recall the Institution of the Eucharist. Jesus
left us the Eucharist as his greatest gift for his followers. He enabled
us to recall the key moment of his life when he gave up his life to
benefit us all. Every time we celebrate the Eucharist Jesus’ great act
of love on our behalf on Calvary comes alive for us during its
celebration.
The week comes to an end on Saturday night with the celebration of
the Resurrection of Jesus. God enable Jesus to overcome death in
response to his faith and love. He was glorified. He takes on a totally
new life as he sits at God’s right and also makes himself present to us
so that we can experience a share in that new life during our time in
this world. He also left us a clear pattern for living. Self-giving
love, after the manner of Jesus, leads us to a better quality of life in
this world and everlasting life beyond this world.
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
For the first time since 2019, we can celebrate the Easter Triduum
publicly. This week’s newsletter insert is an invitation to all
parishioners in every parish to ‘Come and Celebrate Easter Again’. An
article explores the rich liturgical significance of these three special
days, followed by a homily for Palm Sunday. We feature a video from The
Irish Catholic on the current crisis in Ukraine and another by the Iona
Institute on ‘Taking Stock: Assessing the last Two Years and the Road
Ahead’. We have an article on why we must not neglect the spirituality
of Holy Saturday for it is an integral part of what Christ has done for
us. Check out these and other resources available at
