Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Looking on at what Jesus was doing, some of his family thought he was out of his mind. When you think of successful initiatives that you took in your life, were there times when people thought you were a little crazy? Perhaps some regard your interest in faith, or church, in the same way? What sustained you in those circumstances?

Successful ventures can arouse jealousy as well as admiration. Jesus was often the target of the jealousy of religious leaders. They questioned his motivation. When have you seen your good efforts, or the good efforts of others, spoiled by the jealousy or hostility of some? Did it help when there were people prepared to stand together in face of the criticism?

For many people, their blood family provides an enduring, reliable and supportive network. Jesus had another family as well: those of one mind and heart with him in seeking to do God’s will. When and where have you experienced encouragement from people of shared vision and faith?

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

‘How do I find my vocation in life?’ is a question many people ask, especially the youth as they search for the right path to follow. A video from the Catholic Truth Society is an excellent resource. As we return to Ordinary Time, we offer a homily for the Tenth Sunday where Jesus calls us to unity and has to contend with others who were convinced he was mad. We have a moving testimony on how forgiveness sets us free – given by a lady from Rwanda who survived the genocide that took place there 30 years ago this summer. We have a choice of newsletter inserts and a feature on St Anthony of Padua whose feast day falls on 13th June. As new members of the European parliament are elected, we offer the document ‘A New Lease of Life for Europe’ published by the bishops of Europe that seeks to breathe new life and vision into the European Union.
Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
