PARISH FINANCE

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly Envelope Collection is unable to fund our Parish. In order to raise our income, we need to run a silver circle type draw to help make up the shortfall, so our Parish can remain solvent.
We propose to hold a 300 to 1 Club draw over 12 months. €50 fully paid up (to include 2 free draws) or €5 per month. The prizes each month will be 1 x €150 and 3 x €50 with 1 x €100 fully paid-up members draw.
We need volunteers to sell a card of 10 lines to people in their own area. If you can help, please contact the Parish Office at 053-9376190 or Mary Canning at 087-9364190.
Your support for this necessary fundraiser will be greatly appreciated. We hope to hold the first draw at the end of May 2022. Have you joined yet?

Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Jesus tells us that we can rely on his relationship with us. Think of the relationships you have in which you feel safe and secure because there is mutual understanding, and the relationship has stood the test of time.

Jesus says that the disciple is one who listens. What is your experience of listening to the word of God in the Scriptures? To what other voices have you listened and found guidance?

The faithful disciple is also one who follows the path of love that Jesus preached and practiced. Altogether it may be difficult at times, it is in following it we find life. Where have you had the experience of listening, responding, loving, and finding life?

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

On this ‘Vocations Sunday’, we speak with Bishop Ger Nash on the importance of priestly and religious vocations for the future of our diocese. We also include resources for parishes for the celebration of Vocations Sunday. We congratulate Fr Chris Hayden from our diocese who launches his new book ‘A Better Vision’ this Sunday 8th May at St Patrick’s College, Maynooth. It is a book that unpacks the wisdom and prophetic teaching of the Gospel and Church on human sexuality. Our video this week is from Fr Mike Schmitz on how joy is the gigantic secret of Christians. As we approach the centenary of his birth, we re-publish an article on the late Nicky Rackard. Finally, a meditation for the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima on 13th May. Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
