Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

The Baptism of Jesus marks a turning point in his life, and the start of his public ministry. Recall moments when your life changed and you moved into a new phase.

The experience was one in which Jesus had a new sense of his own identity. What have been the experience which have helped shaped your sense of who you are?

How have you come to an awareness of being a child of God, beloved by God, and one on whom rests the grace of God?
It is surprising that Jesus, the Saviour of the world, asks to be baptised by John. The request symbolizes his desire to identify with us. At the same time he is filled with the Holy Spirit. That step of identifying with us is an important element in his being able to help us. Have you ever found that when someone identifies with you, it is easier for him/her to help you? Has your ability to empathise with others had any impact on your effectiveness in helping them?

THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

As the Church mourns the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, we reflect on his life, thought and legacy. We include an article on his take on human freedom, an inspirational quote from ‘Deus Caritas Est’ for the newsletter and his last spiritual testament. We have a homily for the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord and words of light and hope from Lorcan Brennan. Check out these and other resources available at www.thehookoffaith.com
