Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
At times we may be downhearted and doubtful about life and our place
in life. We get some wonderful answers in this Sunday’s Gospel. Jesus
asks us not to allow our hearts to be troubled, but to trust in God and
in himself. He provides the answers. We are meant to have God as part of
our lives. God calls each and every one of us to a life with himself.
Jesus assures us," There are many rooms in my Father’s house." There is
an opportunity for each of us to have a relationship with God and liver
close to him during our life time. We do not have to wait until after
death to avail of our room. Jesus asserts that he is going away to
prepare a place for his followers. He will return and take his
disciples, his followers with him so that where he is his disciples will
be too. He passes through death and rises to new life with his
resurrection. In virtue of his death and resurrection he made it
possible for all of us to have access to himself and through him with
his Father. In baptism we gain that access to God and have a key to the
room assigned to us. There is no real room. What matters is that we gain
access to Christ and to God and that we live close to them during our
time in this world. We will gain full and clear possession of our room
when we see God face to face and come to enjoy his presence forever.
If we are to have a full understanding of our life’s journey with
Christ and his Father it is Christ who will show us the way. "I am the
Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except
through me". Jesus is the Way because he is the Truth. He is the truth
about God. He shows us what God is like. He is a loving God because he
gave his Son up to a loving death on our behalf. Jesus is also the truth
about mankind. He shows us that self-giving love is the key to human
fulfilment and perfection. If we embrace and follow these truths about
God and ourselves we will have life, the ultimate life of being a good
human per-son in constant relationship with God.
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
‘Marrying the right person’ is a question that crosses the mind of
many young people today. We have a video that helps you look for the
signs. The homily for the Fifth Sun-day of Easter focuses on Christ as
‘the Way, the Truth and the Life’ and the newsletter insert reflects on
our common vocation as Church today to be a ‘chosen race, a royal
priesthood, a people set apart’. This links into the Pope’s prayer
intention for May which is for ecclesial movements and groups. We
include a powerful talk by the daughter of a saint who witnesses to the
gift of life and tells her remarkable story. We have an interview on the
topic of vocations and continue the series of video commentaries on the
Creed. Check out these and other resources available at
www.thehookoffaith.com
