Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
On this Sunday, in the diocesan Cathedral in Enniscorthy our bishop
elect, Fr Ger Nash will become the next Bishop of Ferns. He receives the
Sacrament of Ordination and will be consecrated to the Order of Bishop.
He be-comes the leader of the church in the diocese. He has been chosen
to continue the basic mission Christ in the community of the diocese. A
basic ministry will be proclaiming the word of God in a way that meets
the thinking and culture of the present day. He will remind people of
the basic call to be friends of Christ and to produce a lifestyle
inspired and nurtured by the message of Jesus. He will emphasize the
central place of the Eucharist in the worship of the faithful and in
promoting Christian faith and life.
The new bishop has a primary interest in the pastoral ministry of the
church. From his own diocese of Killaloe he carries a prolonged
experience of parishes without any priest where one or two priests may
have responsibility for two or more parishes. He recognizes the need for
many more lay people to become involved in the work and ministry of the
church, where the Parish Pastoral Council will be the basic agency of
planning and action for the parish community. He understands that this
cannot happen without education and training for those who engage in
pastoral work. The challenges for the future are great. But a church
community that generously co-operates and wants the best outcome for
itself can do wonders in renewing and regenerating the life of the
church. The future will be a time of priests and people working in close
and loving harmony to realize the kingdom of God.
May God continually bless Bishop Ger and support him in leading all
of us to the pinnacle of faith and life in Christ Jesus.
