Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
John the Baptist came to bear witness to Jesus. Who have been the
people who have borne witness to us of the good news of the gospel that
God loves us - a friend, a parent, a teacher, etc.? To whom have we
borne that witness?
John appears in the story as one who had the courage to be himself in
the face of opposition. He was also a person who knew his own value, did
not make exaggerated claims and was content with his mission. Can you
recall times when you have been content to be yourself, with-out
pretending to be more then you are? What was it like to have that
freedom, even in the face of criticism from others?
John was ‘ the voice of one crying out in the wilderness’ -
announcing confidently to those in the wilderness that they must not
despair be-cause God’s grace may come to them at any moment. Have you
had the experience of being in the wilderness, feeling lost? From whom
did you hear a voice that gave you hope? Have you been able to give hope
to other people when they were in the wilderness?
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
This week’s interview is with Rom Bates from Ferns who talks about
the pilgrim route of St Aidan and St David that links Ferns with David’s
place of origin in Wales. Rom shares with us how doing the Camino to
Compostela changed his life and how he and others have been working on
this pilgrim project for the last few years. We have an article on the
spirituality of Advent, a beautiful Advent hymn and a homily for the
First Sunday of the season from Fr Martin Pender. We have features for
the feast of St An-drew on 30th November and on St Francis Xavier whose
‘zeal for souls’ drove him to become one of the most successful
missionaries after St Paul. Check out these and other resources
available at www.thehookoffaith.com
