Bunclody ICA - New members needed

It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going by so many wonderful women in the past.

Please phone 087 2805426 or 086 8135587

Waterford S.E Region Charismatic Renewal

..invites you to “Come and See” Sunday 11th February in Tower Hotel Waterford from 2pm to 5:50pm. Prayer, Praise, Music, Scripture, Sharing and Healing Ministry. Further details call Sile on 086 8590394

The first story (vv.29-31) is one of healing. You might reflect on times when you were sick in body, mind or spirit and someone was a ’Jesus person’ to you, someone who ’took you by the hand and lifted you up’. Remember them with gratitude. Have there been times also when you did this for others?

The second story (vv.32-34) adds another dimension. People are freed from demons. Have you had experience of being freed from demons that imprisoned you: fear, anxiety, guilt, low self-esteem, addictions, bitterness, etc.? What was it like for you to get that freedom? Who were the ’Jesus people’ who helped to free you?

The third story (vv.35-39) has a number of different elements we can consider
a) Jesus goes off to a desert place to pray. After a hectic day he felt the need for quiet to ground himself once more. In the busyness of life how do you keep in touch with what is going on inside yourself? How do you keep in touch with God? Where do you find your ’deserted place’? What difference does it make for you when you do succeed in taking time out?
b) Jesus shows himself as a person seeking to break new ground. The disciples want him to continue ministry where he is. He wants to move on. What has been your experience of breaking new ground, moving beyond your comfort zone, or trying something you had not tried before? When has this had a lifegiving effect for you?

The ‘Hook of Faith’ this week focuses on the theme of suffering that emerges with Job in the first reading at Mass this Sunday and in Mark’s Gospel with Jesus who deliberately sought out those who were suffering and in distress. We have an article and newsletter insert on the mystery of suffering that has always troubled humanity and challenges faith in a loving God. We include Pope Francis’ prayer intention for February which is for the terminally ill and provide resources for 8th February – the ‘International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking’. We have an article on the Diocesan Pastoral Plan by Jim Thompson and another article by Sean Byrne. Finally, in advance of the referendum in March about the proposed change to the Constitution about women’s place in the home, a Supreme Court Judge clarifies important terms Check out these and other resources available at
