Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Compassion for human frailty combined with a gentle challenge to a
better life marked the response of Jesus. From whom have you experienced
a compassionate challenge? What was that like for you? To whom have you
given such a challenge?
The Pharisees and scribes self-righteously condemned the woman until
Jesus brought them in touch with their own sinfulness. This was a
conversion moment for them and they turned away from their guest for the
death of the woman. Have there been times when your awareness of your
own fragility and sinfulness has helped you to be less judgemental of
other?
‘What do you say?’ can be an embarrassing question. Jesus had the
courage to voice an opinion, even though it was against the party line
of the day. When you have seen that courage shown-by yourself, or by
another? What was the result?
THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK
In its Lenten campaign this year, Trocaire is
highlighting the plight of people in East Africa who are struggling with
the effects of climate change. We find out more and why these people
cannot be forgotten at a time when so many are in need. The homily for
the Fifth Sunday of Lent is all about mercy, healing and conversion. We
have a meditation by Pope Francis for the newsletter insert. We include
a reflection by a participant in the recent synodality meetings who
looks forward to a new era of hope for our Church. We feature poems by
Philip Quirke and a video on the priesthood of all the baptised and our
call to mission. Finally, as the celebration of Easter edges closer, we
explore five reasons why we should participate in the Eucharist on
Sundays. Check out these and other resources available at
www.thehookoffaith.com
