Bunclody ICA - New members needed
It is 70 years since ICA was started in Bunclody. The guild has
always been very active in the parish for all those years. We want to
keep that tradition alive. But, due in no small way to Covid 19 and the
demographic ageing of our members, we are desperately looking for new
members to join our guild. We meet once a month and have a guest
speaker. Sometimes have various crafts, etc at our meeting. We also meet
once a month for coffee and chat in local restaurant. Sadly, if we do
not get new members, we may have to close the guild. If you have 2 hours
to spare, once a month, and to keep the guild open, which was kept going
by so many wonderful women in the past.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
This coming week is the most important week in the
church’s year. Towards the end of the week we celebrate the Paschal
Mystery. The focus of our attention will the Passion, Death and
Resurrection of Jesus. On Holy Thursday we give our attention to the
Institution of the Eucharist. This was Christ’s great gift to the
church. He gave us a Sacrament, a sign which brings to life a wonderful
reality. Jesus loved us to the point of death. Every time we celebrate
the Eucharist Jesus great act of love takes place in our church. The
Priest takes bread and wine, utters the words of consecration over them.
They become for us the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ who gave himself
up to death out of love for all of us. We receive the Body of Christ,
the person of Christ, into ourselves and so we have the opportunity to
be intimate with Him, to have conversation with him and so nourish our
ongoing relationship with Him.
On Friday we join Jesus on his journey to Calvary. We
hear the details of his trial, suffering and crucifixion to the point of
death. It was a cruel journey, but a journey he had chosen himself to
fulfil the will of his Father and bring home to us the measure of his
extraordinary love for each of us. In his death Jesus reached the
pinnacle of his humanity. He became the perfect human being at the
moment of his death as he brought his self-giving love to the point of
perfection. Calvary can never be separated from the great act of love of
Jesus on our behalf.
But Jesus death also pleased his Father. Having seen the perfection
in the death of his Son at the moment of his death he brought Jesus back
to life as a new human being by raising him from the dead. The apostles
met someone who was different but still carried the wounds he suffered
on his road to deth. Thomas was eventually convinced and proclaimed with
great faith "My Lord and My God". The risen Lord has risen for us all.
He is available to us all so that he can walk with us on the journey of
life and encourage us to adopt his way of life that leads through death
to everlasting life.
