Erected by Richard Kelly of Newtownbarry in memory of his daughter MARYANNE KELLY who depd this life Nov. 8th 1867 aged 7 years also the above RICHARD KELLY who died January 23rd 1905 aged 89 years and his wife CATHERINE KELLY who died April 21st 1907 aged 87 years also his son JAMES KELLY died March 2nd 1932 aged 74 years and his son RICHARD KELLY died April 30th aged .. years.

Below are copies of letters sent from Richard and Catherine Kelly (nee Quail) (their headstone inscription above) of Church Street in the early 1880s to their daughter Julia in the USA. They are very interesting because not only do they give some insight into life at that period, but also give an insight into the happening and evictions concerning the Land League in the area. My thanks to their descendant Jim McGovern for these copies. By the way, Jim is looking for a copy of an old photo of a band that used to hang in the old church on Church Street (beside the FCJ convent).
